No more peas for Kaleb

When Kaleb got home from school today, I let him choose what he wanted for lunch......first he wanted soup, but he also wanted broccoli with it. Unfortunately, we were out of broccoli, so he chose peas. He ate all his soup & the peas I gave him & then I noticed he was breaking out around his mouth......I didn't think anything of it. About an hour later, he wanted more & so I let him......THEN he broke out in hives all over. Yeah, he's allergic to peas........well, peanuts, I just didn't realize that peas are a legume just like peanuts.......I am so dumb (ha ha). I gave him some benadryl & then he wanted a bath.......you can barely see the redness around his mouth. In the first picture he's itching his leg - but yeah, he was still happy. Thank goodness it didn't get to the point where I had to use his epi-pen........I'm hoping that Andy is around when I need that, because I really can't stab that into his leg. Poor Kaleb...........it wasn't enough torture getting his tonsils out, I had to give him hives too (ha ha).

Loving this weather!

My mother-in-law Claudia called one morning to see if we wanted to go to the park with her & my niece Ela.....how could we refuse? My kids have been dying to go outside, so we walked to their place & then to the park - it was so nice......amazingly it wasn't windy. Kolby was just enjoying the walk & didn't want to get out of the stroller (ha ha).........Kaleb & Ela enjoyed it for a little while & then they were entertained by some dirt & weeds in the field........kids!
My nephew Luke is recovering well, he was released from the hospital on Saturday, but then returned on Sunday because he was throwing up........apparently he caught a virus from the hospital & so he had to go back.......sorry baby Luke.

Spring Break

Well, its that time of the year when you're supposed to do "spring cleaning".....HA! what is that? I always think of it as the time to go on vacation, which we're not doing this week. :( I get the kids ALL week long to myself......YAY!! So far, we've attempted to take out the summer toys & enjoy them.......as you can see, Keilana would rather be in a swimming pool. At Ela's grandparents house, the kids were able to enjoy the outdoors - swinging, riding bikes & the girls enjoyed playing in the garden area......and who would've thought that it actually snowed and rained yesterday? HA, that's Utah weather for ya! Anyway, Kaleb is still recovering - he's had some rough nights, Kolby is enjoying the toyroom (especially since a TV is in there) & Keilana just talks all day & gets into everything......I have a great week ahead of me. As for their cousin Lucas, he is in surgery right now & we'll hope to get an update on how he's doing real soon.

I hope everyone is having a great Spring Break!

You're in our prayers, Luke

Our nephew Lucas (Dave & Annamarie's baby) is going in for heart surgery today at Primary Childrens Hospital. Yesterday, all the family fasted for him & we got together for dinner & to give Luke a blessing. He is such a little sweetheart, it was great to see him so happy (he did smile for me after the picture was taken, ha ha). We love you Luke.

Kaleb's surgery

Well, we knew this had to be done........poor Kaleb has too many asthma-type problems when he gets sick & he snores bad at night AND when he talks he sounds stuffed up.......SO, we met with his ENT & he noticed how huge Kaleb's tonsils were & said they needed to be removed. We scheduled the surgery for the next week (this past Thursday). He was excited that morning as Andy & I drove him to the hospital, not knowing what was going on. He got weighed & measured, blood drawn, blood pressure taken & then he got into the hospital pjs........yeah, he was still happy even after all that.
It only took about half an hour, but of course when they brought him back, he was not so happy. He wouldn't even look at us & he just cried & whined. We had to force him to eat a popsicle & to drink water.......poor Kaleb.

Goodbye Provo, Hello Lehi

I'm not sure how this blog works, but I thought I'd start with our most recent family happening.......we left our hometown of 9 years (together......Andy was raised there) in Provo to a brand new home in Lehi. Its been a fun transition. The kids have their own rooms & a HUGE toy room, so they never get bored. We have great neighbors & we really like our new ward - Cedar Hollow 6th Ward. If you're ever in the neighborhood, please stop by - we love having visitors.
